🎨 Arts & Music Events Need Innovation
Over the weekend, I attended an Art Battle event at Culxr House here in Omaha, NE. It reminded me a lot of the RAW: natural born artists showcases I used to attend as a live painter.
These events are innovations on more traditional art and music events. They combine technology and interactivity to create more immersive experiences for attendees.
This trend has been going on for nearly a decade but it seems to be accelerating as live events return in force.
🎟️ Tickets Are Broken, But the Fix Is Unclear
The ticketing industry is facing widespread acknowledgement that it is broken, with issues ranging from glitches and bots to inflated fees and lack of transparency.
Taylor Swift's recent ticketing debacle and the subsequent investigations and lawsuits have brought the problems to the forefront. However, amidst various legislative proposals and lobbying campaigns, the exact nature of the problem and the appropriate solution remain unclear.
While efforts have focused on regulating primary and secondary market issues, such as pricing transparency, holdbacks, and combating scalpers, there is a lack of consensus on how to address the complex web of challenges faced by both consumers and the industry. The need for meaningful and systemic reforms is recognized, but finding the right path forward proves elusive.

One of my favorite parts of working in event technology at SXSW was always the creative, interactive brand activation throughout the festival.

These cool event activations can serve as great inspiration for how to make your events stand out (which helps them promote themselves!).

BREAKING: Interview with Billy McFarland, Founder of Fyre Festival… Yes… That Fyre Festival
Well, I had literally just hit schedule on this newsletter when HOSTED by POSH dropped their new exclusive interview with Billy McFarland, the infamous founder of Fyre Festival.
While the festival obviously ended up being a legendary debacle, there’s still some interesting things to learn from Billy. He was very good at tying together investors and big-name influencers and selling a big… gigantic… vision.
It's all about offering direct access to a highly desired fanbase.
That’s It!
