🎟️ Eventbrite’s Share Of Ticketing In Question

Every two weeks I join a panel of other industry professionals to hear about what is going on in the event industry from them. The topic of moving away from Eventbrite for various reasons keeps coming up.

Eventbrite has faced significant challenges over the past few years and there are many alternatives to Eventbrite gaining traction.

Is it putting a dent in Eventbrite's share of ticketing?

I took a deep dive into the data Vesta has on the 22,000+ events promoted in the past two years to see if there was any noticeable changes in Eventbrite’s share of ticketing.

What I found surprised me? (That’s not clickbait, it really was surprising).

📈 Live Industry Bounced Back But Unequally

The news has been buzzing for the past two years about how “EVENTS ARE BACK, BABY!” and while that might be true for big events, is it true across the board?

During some of the industry panels we follow, we keep hearing the same updates: Big performers and events are up in attendance, while smaller up-and-coming acts and events are struggling.

In a report with IQ Mag quotes:

Certainly, theatre, musical theatre, and classical [are] slower to come back than contemporary rock and pop. If you speak to any orchestra manager or sinfonia or symphonic hall, they’ll tell you that their attendances are anything between 20 and 30% down still.

What do you think? 🤔 Are events back across the board or has their been a concentration of attention towards the biggest events?

💌 Audience-Driven Events

The way bands perform and interact with audiences has been pretty much the same for decades (maybe centuries).

uRequest Live, on the Event Tech Podcast, shares an interesting take on making live music, especially at weddings and corporate events, more engaging for the audience.

They allow audiences to interact with devices and kiosks to make requests and vote on polls about what songs should be played. Turns out engagement goest through the roof when you allow this kind of interactivity.
